Commercial doors cycle hundreds of times a week and rarely fail in isolation. The lock works with the closer, the hinges, the frame and any electronic components on the opening, so the whole assembly gets looked at.

A modern car key is a mechanical blade, a transponder and often a remote, and each part can fail independently. Identifying which one has failed is most of the diagnosis.
A lock that has never been adjusted since the door was hung will eventually behave like a broken lock.
How we approach a job
A key that sticks, a bolt that will not throw fully, a latch that no longer holds the door closed — these read as lock failures, and sometimes they are. More often the lock is doing exactly what it was built to do and something around it has moved.
Doors settle. Hinges wear and the leaf drops a few millimetres. Frames shift with the seasons. A closer loses its adjustment and stops bringing a commercial door fully home. Each of those changes the relationship between the bolt and the strike, and the symptom shows up at the key.
That is why a technician will usually test the lock with the door open before touching the cylinder. If the mechanism runs freely in the open position, the problem is at the strike or in the way the door sits, and replacing hardware would have solved nothing.

The work varies enormously between a car key and a master-key plan. The way a request is handled does not.
